Troopers Hill Nature Reserve

A striking and wild landscape in East Bristol, Troopers Hill is a unique nature reserve that combines fascinating industrial history with rare ecological habitats.

The hill is dominated by two iconic 18th-century copper smelting chimneys, which stand as monuments to the area's rich mining past.

Unlike many of Bristol’s green spaces, this site features rare acid grassland and heathland, supporting specialized plants and insects that are found nowhere else in the city.

The summit offers breath-taking 360-degree views, stretching from the rolling Mendip Hills to the landmarks of the city centre.

It is a popular spot for kite flying, photography, and sunset watching, providing a rugged and atmospheric escape for those seeking a bit of wilderness within the city.
