The Georgian House Museum

Built in 1790 for wealthy sugar merchant and slave plantation owner John Pinney, this beautifully preserved six-storey townhouse offers a rare and revealing glimpse into 18th-century life.

Visitors can explore eleven rooms, from the elegant drawing rooms where guests were entertained to the functional basement kitchen and laundry.

Crucially, the museum tells the story of Pinney's enslaved servant, Pero Jones, for whom the nearby Pero’s Bridge is named, providing a poignant insight into Bristol’s complex maritime history.

The house is furnished with exquisite period pieces and original features, creating an immersive atmosphere that transports you back over 200 years to the heights of the city's Georgian era.
