M Shed

Housed within a massive 1950s transit shed right on Bristol's bustling Harbourside, M Shed is an innovative flagship museum dedicated entirely to the vibrant history of Bristol and its people.

Free to enter, M Shed explores over 2,000 years of the city's social, maritime, and industrial past.

Through thousands of historical objects, personal stories, and interactive displays, visitors can trace Bristol's journey from a prehistoric settlement to a major trading port and a modern, multicultural city.

The museum is divided into three main galleries: Bristol Places, Bristol People, and Bristol Life, covering everything from the city's role in the transatlantic slave trade to its pioneering aerospace industry and its famous street art scene.

Outside, the museum brings history to life with working exhibits, including historic cranes, steam trains, and boat trips on the Floating Harbour. M Shed provides an authentic, honest, and captivating look at what makes Bristol the unique city it is today.
